Moving to a new place brings so many changes all at once, that it can be exhilarating at times and overwhelming at other times. Even if you have previously worked abroad or lived in another Arab country, you can expect to experience phases of acculturation when moving to Kuwait. Moving can bring moments of uncertainty, confusion, misunderstandings and mistakes, even if you were very confident and comfortable living and working in the previous country. There are individual differences in the length and intensity of each phase of acculturation, but if you have enough patience and support to adapt through all four phases of acculturation, you can gain new skills, learn more about yourself, and develop a surprising level of comfort in your new home.
